I absolutely loved the cozy and charming decor of the hotel. It had a warm and inviting atmosphere that made me feel right at home. The general areas, such as the lounge and dining area, were beautifully decorated and added to the overall charm of the hotel. As a senior, I also appreciated the hotel's accessibility. The hallways were wide enough for me to navigate easily with my cane and the elevators were spacious and reliable.
I would have appreciated a more attentive staff. The children working there seemed a bit disinterested and were not very helpful during my stay.

The rooms at Mathis were amazing! I loved how each one had its own unique design and vibe. It really made me feel like I was staying somewhere special. It was so cool that some of the rooms even had a balcony. I could enjoy my morning coffee with a view and soak up the Italian atmosphere. The rooms were really comfortable and had all the modern amenities I needed, like a flat-screen TV and air conditioning. It felt like a home away from home. I also appreciated having a private bathroom with a bidet and a hairdryer. It made getting ready in the morning a breeze. The tile/marble floor in the double room was a nice touch. It added elegance and made the room feel even more luxurious. The private entrance to the double room gave me a sense of privacy and exclusivity. It was like having my own little hideaway. I was pleasantly surprised by how quiet the room was. The soundproofing was top-notch, allowing me to get a restful night's sleep. Having a minibar in the double room was a convenient touch. I enjoyed having drinks and snacks readily available whenever I wanted.
Personally, I wasn't a huge fan of the minibar. I prefer exploring local places for food and drinks.

Had a blast pretending to be an opera diva in Verdi's homeland. Lovely city center stroll. Yummy breakfast. Cons: Really missed hearing the market being set up in the mornings. So disappointing.

We recently had a romantic escape to this hotel and were pleasantly surprised. The breakfast was simply amazing, with a great variety of fresh fruits and pastries. Their restaurant had delicious food, my partner keeps raving about the local specialty. The location was perfect for us as it was close to a train station and we could easily explore the town. We loved the vintage ambiance of the hotel that gave it a homely feel. The staff was friendly and attentive to our needs.
The only downside we experienced was the cramped bedroom. It was great that it was well-kept and tidy, but it was quite small and barely accommodated our belongings.
